Shafa Football Club was founded in 1998. The club began with players from Azerbaijan’s U-18 national team. It quickly established itself at a high competitive level, building its own stadium with the support of FIFA and UEFA.
In the 2000/2001 season, Shafa won the Azerbaijan Cup.
In 2025, the club finished 2nd in the Azerbaijan Second League, earning promotion to the First League. Today, Shafa competes in the Azerbaijan First League and holds a leading position in the race toward promotion to the Premier League.
Following promotion to the Premier League, the club’s long-term objective is to qualify for and compete in the UEFA Champions League.
